McKinney

Unique By Nature

McKinney, Collin County Seat, is located near East Fork on the Trinity River. Built in 1848, it is named after Collin McKinney, one of the signatories of the Texas Declaration of Independence. McKinney’s house, formerly 17 miles (27 km) north, was moved to Finch Park in 1936 and restored as a memorial.

Many of the city’s inhabitants commute to work in Dallas or Plano, south of McKinney. Its proximity to the expanding Dallas / Fort Worth metropolitan area has spurred rapid economic growth and population growth since the last decades of the 20th century.
