Take the first step to buying a new home in Richardson

Richardson is located in the Northern Suburbs of Collin County. The original founder settled in Brecken Ridge Township (c. 1853) in the south of the current city border. In 1872, Riley and Jack Wheeler gave the town grounds and land for the right of way to the Houston and Texas Central Railroad, and the town was laid out and named after George Richardson, then president of the railroad. Most of the business area was rebuilt in the early 1890s after a devastating fire.

With the completion of the “Red Brick Road” (later the Greenville Highway) to Dallas in 1924, the population grew rapidly. Richardson was founded the following year and adopted the Municipal Charter in 1956. Although it is mainly residential, the city has developed into a research center, with the Sun Oil Company Laboratory and W.L. Clayton Research Center (Food). Owens Spring Creek Farm is a display farm and museum featuring vintage sausages and a traditional blacksmith shop.
